Your ICS Demo Lesson: How to Prepare and What You’ll Get
A demo lesson is the best way to find out whether an English course suits you. At ICS, the demo is a real, paid 50-minute lesson in which a teacher checks your level and gives you a study plan. Here’s how to get the most out of it.
What happens in the demo lesson
| Part | What happens |
| Getting to know you | The teacher asks about your work, goals and available times. |
| Level check | Speaking, listening, reading and vocabulary, getting gradually harder. |
| Sample lesson | Part of a real lesson based on your goal. |
| Feedback | Your strengths, common mistakes and a suggested plan. |
How to prepare
- Think of a specific goal: for example, “lead meetings with my Taiwanese manager” or “IELTS 6.0 within a year”.
- Bring something real if you can: a work email, a test paper or your child’s homework.
- Check your computer, headset microphone and internet 10 minutes before.
- Choose a quiet, well-lit place.
- Don’t worry about mistakes: the teacher needs to hear how you really speak.
What you’ll receive afterwards
- Your estimated level and the areas to work on.
- A study plan: which programme to take and how many lessons a week.
- An estimate of how many 20-lesson courses your goal may need. The plan is sent to you in writing within 24 hours.
Why is the demo lesson paid?
Your teacher prepares the demo like a real lesson, and you receive a level assessment and a concrete study plan. The demo costs the same as one regular lesson, and the full amount is deducted from your first course if you enrol within 14 days.
Demo lessons for children
A parent can sit with a young child for the first few minutes so they feel at ease. Have a well-fitting headset and paper and pencil ready. After the lesson, the teacher explains the results to the parent.
FAQ
I’m a beginner. Should I take a demo lesson?
Yes. It helps the teacher find the right starting point, so lessons are neither too hard nor too easy.
Do I have to sign up after the demo?
No. You receive your study plan and decide for yourself.
